-
Passionate Kisses is a hybrid tea rose in the Rosaceae (rose) family that was introduced in 1998. It was hybridized by Meilland International and considered a modern rose in the Bloomables® collection.
Passionate Kisses grows 3-4 feet tall and wide and foliage fills out to the ground. It prefers full sun and fertile moist well-drained soils with a slightly acidic pH. Blooming occurs on new wood so pruning can be accomplished in late winter, after the threat of extremely cold temperatures have passed. Mulch will help retain moisture. Avoid overhead watering to prevent diseases from occurring.
The clusters of semi-double, salmon-coral-pink-colored flowers are reblooming from early spring to early fall. The showy blooms make a beautiful contrast to the dense, dark green foliage. Prickles are present.
Use this shrub as a specimen, in a hedge, as an accent or in the mid-border.
Insects, Diseases, and Other Plant Problems: Generally disease-resistant if good cultural practices are followed. Insects that can damage the foliage include rose slugs, Japanese beetles and Rose weevils. Leaf cutter bees also chew on the leaves. Aphids, especially the rose aphid, feed on the sap from a plant. In low numbers, they aren't a huge issue, however, large numbers can cause the plant to produce fewer blooms and distorted growth.
