Description

Rosa 'Meg' is a climbing hybrid tea in the rose family (Rosaceae) that was introduced to the UK in 1954 by R. Harkness and company. Parentage is Lemon Pillar × Madame Butterfly.

It typically grows to a height of 8-12 feet and a spread of 4-5 feet or more. Grow this rose in full sun in any amended soil with good drainage. Once the plant is established it can be pruned after flowering to control size and to remove damaged and dead canes.

The large showy fragrant flowers appear in spring to early summer and repeat blooms later in the year. The leaves are a glossy dark green and stems have prickles.

Meg cn be grown as a climber or a shrub with support. Use as a specimen, for screening, in a cutting garden or the back of the border. It can be grown on a 10-foot trellis or fence.

Insects, Diseases, and Other Plant Problems: See pests of roses to the left. Meg has fairly good disease resistance. Deer and rabbits will browse roses.
