Lady Elsie May is a hybrid shrub rose in the Roseaceae family and was bred in Germany in 2002 by Richard Noack and introduced in 2002 by Angelica Nurseries. Parentage is `Repandia` x `Repandia`
This shrub will grow 3-4 feet tall and wide and prefers fertile moist well-drained soil in full sun. Fertilize in spring and summer and mulch to retain moisture. In late winter to early spring prune the plant by 1/3 and remove any crossed, damaged or diseased canes. The plant blooms on new wood so this will encourage additional blooms.
The fragrant flowers are a semi-double orange/pink and begin in spring. Repeat blooming will occur throughout the season. Removing spent flowers will encourage your plant to re-bloom sooner. The glossy green leaves are borne on stems with prickles. Rose hips are formed if the flowers are not pruned off.
Use this shrub in the border, foundation, as a specimen or groups such as a hedge.
