Description

Heart o' Gold is a hybrid grandiflora shrub rose in the Rosaceae family bred in 1997 by  Dr. A. Michael Dykstra of the United States. Parentage is Broadway ™  × Gold Medal.

This bushy shrub will grow 5-6 feet tall and 3-5 feet wide in full sun in amended well-drained moist garden soil. Prune in late winter to early spring to remove old, dead, damaged or crossed canes.

The 4-5 inch high-centered flowers have a golden center and hot pink edges, 26-40 petals and a strong fruity fragrance. They bloom on long strong stems in small clusters and repeat blooms in flushes throughout the season. Stems have prickles.

Use this shrub in the border, as a specimen, in small groups as a hedge or a foundation plant. Use in the cutting or cottage garden.

Insects, Diseases, and Other Plant Problems:   Good disease resistance. See pests of roses to the left. Deer will browse roses.
