Description

Gizmo is a miniature shrub rose in the Rosaceae family bred by Tom Carruth of the United States and released in 1997. Parentage is POULtop x MACmanly.

The shrub is compact, upright and mounded growing 1.5 to 2 feet tall with a similar spread. Plant in full sun in amended well-drained moist soil. Prune in late winter.

The orange-red blend flowers have a white center and gold stamens. They are 1-2 inches wide with 5-8 petals and a mild apple fragrance. They cover the shrub from late spring to frost and will develop rose hips if allowed. The foliage is a glossy dark green on stems with prickles.

Use this shrub in a container, in the border front, mass-planted and edging for walkways. It is tolerant of urban conditions.

Insects, Diseases, and Other Plant Problems:  Good disease resistance to rust and powdery mildew. See pests of roses to the left. Deer will browse roses.
