'Dortmund' is a hybrid Kordesii shrub in the rose family (Rosaceae) bred by Wilhelm J.H. Kordes II of Germany in1955. Parentage is seedling x Rosa kordesii.
The shrub grows 8-10 feet tall and 4-6 feet wide as a climber or pruned as a shrub. Grow in full sun to partial shade in average, moist, well-drained garden soil.
Cherry red flowers have a white center and yellow stamens. They are 4-5 inches across with a mild fragrance and bloom in clusters with repeat blooming through fall.. Gloss dark green foliage on stems with prickles.
Use Dortmund' as a shrub or a climber. It will work as a hedge, in groups, as a specimen and on verticle surfaces as pillars and fences. Use in the cottage and cutting gardens.
