Description

The Cottage Garden rose is a hybrid shrub rose in the Rosaceae family bred by Christopher H. Warner of the United Kingdom in 1997. Parentage is Seaspray x (Rosa sinowilsonii  × Marjorie Fair ®)

This vigorous grower reaches 3-5 feet tall and 4-8 feet wide with a spreading to drooping habit. Plant in full sun in fertile well-drained moist soil. Prune in late winter.

1-2 inch cup-shaped salmon-pink flowers with 15 petals cover the shrub in clusters in summer. Repeat blooming occurs best in cool summer areas. Leaves are medium dark green on stems with prickles.

Use this shrub in the border or in small groups for a hedge.

Insects, Diseases, and Other Plant Problems: Watch for powdery mildew, rust and black spot especially in humid conditions. See pests of roses to the left. Deer will browse roses.
