- Description
-
'Autumn Sunset' has excellent disease resistance, including black spot. It is a hardy, vigorous climber with a strong fruity scent. Although considered a climber, it can be grown as a shrub. It will bloom in its first year.
Planting methods will depend on how the plant was purchased. When planting from a container, the site hole should be dug 2 times the size of the container. If purchased bare-root, dig a hole as deep and as wide as the root. Place the plant removed from the container or the bare-root in the prepared hole so that the exposed area of the plant is just above the surrounding soil surface. After mixing the removed soil with fresh organic compost. Backfill halfway and water thoroughly. Fill the remainder of the hole and water again.
The foliage is shiny and medium-sized.
Pruning should be accomplished in late fall or early spring. Blooms will appear on both old and new wood.
