Description

'Red Prince' is a deciduous shrub that can grow to a height and width of up to 9 feet.  Locating in full sun with provide the showiest foliage and blooms. The flowers that hold their brilliant red color bloom from late spring into early summer.  It will occasionally rebloom in late summer to early fall with a lesser abundance of flowers.

It is occasionally sold as a cultivar of Weigela florida.

Its dense form, foliage, and blooms make this an excellent choice for a hedge or border.  Pruning and shaping can be accomplished after flowering.  

Insects, diseases and Other Plant Problems:  There are no serious insect or disease issues.  It can be damaged by deer.
