The specific epithet would lead one to believe that this plant is native to Florida, but it is actually native to North China, Korea and Japan.  Looking for a flurry of color in a small perennial shrub? Weigela 'Sunset' provides unique variegated foliage with green centers and multicolored margins ranging from and including ivory yellow, yellow, yellow-green, green, and red depending on age of foliage and time of year. Growth rate: fast.

Opposite and simple, elliptic to obovate with serrate margins. This deciduous shrub has wonderful variegated leaves with green centers and multicolored margins ranging from and including ivory yellow, yellow, yellow-green, green, and red depending on age of foliage and time of year. It retains good color throughout the growing season. Leaves are 2 to 4½ inches long.
Flower:
Funnel-shape, rose pink flowers (each 1¼ inches long) bloom profusely in spring, with a sparse and scattered repeat bloom often occurring in mid to late summer. Fruits are inconspicuous.
