Buddleja 'Miss Molly'

Phonetic Spelling
bud-LEE-uh mis MOL-ee
Description

Buddleja 'Miss Molly' produces rich hues of dark red-purple flowers from summer to frost. The most common shade is a wine red  ('sangria'),  but it changes throughout the season with deeper reds in warmer regions and more purple shades in cooler climates.   It will bloom the first year after planting and is easy to grow, tolerating different soil types (although clay soil benefits from adding compost). A sunny location and well-drained soil are necessary for best performance.  Buddlejas do not tolerate poor drainage but are drought tolerant once established.

'Miss Molly' blooms on new wood and should be pruned in early spring to maintain the compact shape. It is a hybrid cultivar of  Buddleja 'Miss Ruby' and Buddleja davidii  'Attraction' and was developed at North Carolina State University by Dr. Dennis Werner.
