Description

A small golden weeping tree in the willow family.  A hybrid cross between Salix alba 'Vitellana' which gives it is yellow stems and frost hardiness and Salix babylonica 'Babylon' which gives it a weeping habit.

Willows prefer moist to wet soils well-drained soils in full sun.

Insects, Diseases, and Other Plant Problems:  Aphids, caterpillars, nematodes and stem-borers are common insect problems.  It suffers from a wide range of diseases including willow anthracnose, powdery mildew, scab and cankers.  This tree is short-lived and has weak branches that are known to break. It got the name Weeping Willow for how the water droplets running off of it resembled tears.
