Rosa 'Country Dancer'

Common Name(s):

Phonetic Spelling
RO-zuh
Description

A showy, fragrant selection, 'Country Dancer' is an upright, compact shrub rose bush growing to 5' tall and 4' wide.  It can grow in part shade, but the best flowering occurs when located in full sun.

Removing spent bloom will encourage the plant to reflower.  Proper placement and care of Rosa will allow the plant to be at its best.  Full sun and proper water are imperative.  Water deeply and ensure that good drainage is provided.  Water should be applied at the base of the plant, avoid overhead watering.  Placement of mulch around the base will retain moisture, help control weeds, and will keep the root cool.  Allow good air circulation around each plant.  Overcrowding can lead to disease.

Pruning can be accomplished in late winter into early spring or allow this specimen to retain its natural form.  Unlike other varieties of roses, shrub roses do not require heavy pruning.

Insects, Diseases, and Other Plant Problems:  Blackspot, powdery mildew, rust, and rose rosette are issues that affect roses.  Aphids, beetles, borers, scale, thrips, spider mites, and leafhoppers are insects that may affect roses. For full information on common pests and diseases, please see the Rosa page.
