Description

Mahonia × media is an interspecific hybrid shrub. Its parents are Mahonia oiwakensis subsp. lomariifolia and Mahonia japonica. It was raised in gardens during the 20th Century, and has become an important garden and landscape plant.  Grows in a wide range of soils but prefers to be evenly moist.  Grows in shade but does need some sunlight.   It is drought tolerant and its fruit attracts birds.
