Jiro persimmon is one of the most cold-hardy cultivars. The fruit is rich in antioxidants, vitamin A, manganese and fiber, especially soluble fiber. It is self-pollinating but planting two cultivars is recommended to ensure a better fruit-set.

- The female flowers have a creamy yellow color and tend to grow singly, while male flowers have a pink tint and tend to appear in threes. The flowers have four crown-shaped sepals and four petals. It blooms from May to June.
