This garden was designed to solve a problem: the difficulty of mowing grass with a fire hydrant and street signs in a corner lot. The garden needed to be attractive but not obscure the fire hydrant to meet local Fire Department rules. Edging was installed to define a space between the turf and the garden area. Liriope was planted along the curb and a Japanese Maple is a focal point. Planted four years ago, this garden is a work in progress with some plants thriving and outgrowing the area while others did not perform well. Watering was only done at installation.
