Coastal Sun Garden, Craven County

This front yard garden is in Craven County.  It receives full sun most of the day, with pockets of filtered sun from nearby trees, large shrubs, and the shadow of the house. Little supplemental water is provided, except for newly planted material. 

The border was just on one side of the front yard when the homeowner moved in.  The borders have been expanded to entirely surround the front yard.  This was done to act as a buffer between the adjacent properties whose centipede grass was creeping into the owner’s Bermuda grass.  

Contractor grade shrubs and invasive species were removed, and more desirable and interesting shrubs and perennials were added.  Annuals are used for continual bloom throughout the summer.
