Bee Hive Garden, Wake Co

Description

The honey bee hives came first and the garden followed. The plants were chosen to bloom at different times of the year and attract pollinators, birds and butterflies to the area. The bees don't need to fly far from the hive to find a good sources of nectar.

Some of the plants included in this garden are: coreopsis, mountain mint, goldenrod, rosemary, black-eyed susan, butterfly weed and lily of the valley. Plants like mountain mint and bee balm can spread quickly, something to keep in mind when planting a bed.

In early summer the Beebalm and Black-eyed Susan’s are blooming, the goldenrod has grown well and will put on a show later.
