Description

'Frosty Curls' is a cultivar the Cyperaceae (sedge) family. The name Carex is Latin for "cutter" in reference to the sharp triangular stem edges found on most members of this genus.

This distinct ornamental grass has narrow silver green leaves that curl at delicately at the end and have a softening effect on any landscape.

Plant in full sun to partial shade in moist to wet soils.  It grows slowly with a clumping habit to 2 feet tall and wide.  This plant is both drought tolerant and tolerant of wet planting sites.  The flowers are insignificant this plant is grown for its intersting airy hair-like leaves.

Mass plant them along a slope to stabilize the soil and prevent erosion.  Allow it to spill over the edges of a garden wall or add it to container plantings for contrast with coarser textured plants.  It works well in Asian, cottage, or rock gardens or around a pool, pond, or stream.

Insects, Diseases, and Other Plant Problems:  No serious problems.
