Floating Garden
- Description
-
A foam pond planter can turn a frost proof large pot into a water garden. The floating planter is a foam ring with netting to hold the soil. The water happy iris have been floating in this container for about eight years. Two gold fish live in the container year round and eliminate the concern about mosquito larvae. Moss volunteered to grow over the top of the floating planter. One year a frog took up residence on the mossy ring for several weeks.
The water container is paired with a strawberry pot containing a variety of small hosta and a pot of mostly annuals. The Million Bells often survive from year to year in the Piedmont 7B zone.
